Inquests and other coronial records

We have various records of coronial investigations, available for the period 1840–1985. The most frequently used are:

• statements and other evidence provided at inquests (hearings held to find the cause of a person’s death)
• records of post mortems and investigations into deaths which may not have eventually required an inquest. 

The key pieces of information are the name of the deceased, and an approximate year of death.
