About the new RDA
PROV has released a new Retention and Disposal Authority (RDA) to authorise the disposal of records created by the Victorian Electoral Commission which are subject to the Public Records Act 1973.
The new RDA, PROS 17/05 Retention and Disposal Authority for Records of Victorian Electoral Functions, covers functions unique to the management and administration of Victorian State and Council elections, and other referendums and polls under the relevant legislation. These functions include:
- Election, Referendum and Poll Management
- Registration of Electors
- Electoral Representation and Boundaries Management
- Registration of Political Parties.
Development of the RDA
The RDA was developed by the Victorian Electoral Commission in consultation with internal and external stakeholders, including Victoria Police and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Scope of the RDA
This RDA replaces the VEC’s former RDA (PROS 06/05), which is now expired. It is designed to be used alongside PROS 07/01 General Retention and Disposal Authority for Common Administrative Functions.
